Tips for sending out thank you cards after your wedding

Saying thank you to your wedding guests after your special day has passed is essential. Cards are a simple and effective way to express your gratitude for the gifts you received and for the time your guests spent to celebrate with you and your new spouse. However, sitting down to write those thank you cards is no doubt a daunting task. Luckily, I have a few tips to streamline the process:

Ask your guests
At your wedding, set out a stack of envelopes next to your guest book. Kindly ask your loved ones to write down their address on the envelope and then place them into a designated container. This way, you’ll have everyone’s updated information and you won’t have to spend hours tracking down the right address.

Order your cards early
Sit down with your spouse and pick out the thank you cards you would like to use. Order them at the same time as your wedding invitations so you won’t have to rush to purchase them when your big day is close.

Tackle the notes in chunks
Never attempt to write all of your thank you notes in one sitting – not only will your beautiful handwriting likely decline, but the overall quality of the thank you card could as well. Instead, set aside chunks of time to write your notes, and give yourself a break in between. This will help you write a genuine and heartfelt thank you each time you put pen to paper. You should also split up the work between you and your spouse, after all, both of you got married. Having someone helping you out will make the workload much easier to handle. Ask your spouse to write the notes for their side of the family, and you can be in charge of your side.

Get organized
Before you begin the writing process, have a list of every guest’s name and what they got you. When you finish a card, cross that person off of your list and move onto the next.

Use a personalized stamp
Instead of writing out your return address on every envelope, you and your spouse can design your own custom stamp to use. Many couples use their new monogram to personalize their thank you cards. This will also come in handy when you have to send out holiday cards later in the year.
