Creative ways to announce your pregnancy

Do you have a bun in the oven? If so, congratulations! You’re about to have a baby, but before you start planning for this exciting change, it’s time to share the news with your friends and family. An event this big deserves to be shared in an equally dramatic way. I’ve got a few creative ways to spill the beans:

Send a card
Never underestimate the power of a handwritten note! After all, you send out birthday cards, holiday cards and sympathy cards, so why not do the same to announce your pregnancy? Pick out a cute card and include copies of the ultrasound picture with it. You can also take a picture of the pregnancy test and include that in your card. After you send it out in the mail, be prepared for a whole lot of happy phone calls.

Use a book
Purchase one (or a few) children’s books to let your significant other figure out the big news. Attach a sticky note that says:

“Please read this to me in October!” (list the month that you’re due}

Love,
Baby

It may take a moment for them to figure it out, but you’ll know it once they do.

Baby dinner theme
Whip up a meal for your family or friends with one theme: baby. Fill the menu with baby carrots, spinach, peas, ribs and other foods with the term “baby” in front of it. Once they start to catch on, hit them with the exciting news!

Snap the reaction
Whether you’re sharing the news with your other half or spilling it to your entire family, use a camera to tell them. Mention that you want to get a picture together, and set your camera to go off on its own. Right before the camera flashes, tell everyone that you’re pregnant. This way, you’ll capture the priceless emotions on their faces and be able to look back on the photo for years to come! Keep in mind you might want to set your camera to go off multiple times. This way, you won’t have to depend on one picture to capture everyone’s reactions.

Create your own Mad Gab card
If you and your family love board games, this might be the one for you. The goal of the game is to sound out a phrase that contains random words. When these terms are put together, they create an entirely different phrase. For instance, “These if Hill Wore” translates to “The Civil War.” You can create your own Mad Gab card to read something like “I’m pregnant” or “You’re going to be a grandmother!”
