You look at the calendar and it’s Dec. 23, then you realize you still haven’t bought a gift for everyone on your list – we’ve all been there, and it’s not a great feeling. You may end up wandering aimlessly throughout the mall, trying to find something that catches your eye. If you run into the same problem this year, I’m here to help you out with any of these awesome last-minute Christmas gift ideas:
Cookie kits
Cookies are always a wonderful gift for anyone on your list, but if you don’t have time to actually bake them, you can give your loved ones cookie kits instead. All you need is a mason jar and all of the dry ingredients for your recipe. Layer all of the ingredients in the jar, tie a colorful ribbon around the lid and a holiday card, and you’re set.
A homemade scrub
The holidays can be stressful, so make your loved one a homemade scrub they can use at home to unwind. Get in the spirit of the season with this peppermint body scrub:
Pour 4 cups white sugar into a mixing bowl, then add 1 cup olive oil and stir. Next, give your scrub a boost of freshness with 20-30 drops of peppermint essential oil. In a food processor, grind up candy canes until you end up with 1/4 cup of the finely crushed treat. Grab a mason jar and layer the sugar and oil mixture with the crushed candy canes for a colorful Christmas gift.
Coffee
Everyone’s always in the market for a pick-me-up, so you can never go wrong with coffee as a gift. Instead of just purchasing a gift card, consider creating a basket that includes a mug and a few of their favorite varieties of coffee. Tie the basket up with some ribbon and search through your collection of holiday cards to find the perfect stationery to match your gift.
If you want, you can even make your own mug. Pick up a plain white mug and a Sharpie marker in a color of your choice. Write or draw anything you’d like on the surface of the cup and then bake it in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 30 minutes. This will set your design in place and ensure it won’t be removed after being washed by hand.
Kindle book
Do you know someone on your list who reads on a Kindle? If so, you can give them the gift of a virtual book. You can choose from millions of various publications and specify when exactly the gift should be sent to the reader’s inbox. No wrapping paper required for this one.
Cocktail maker set
Lots of people have liquor around their house, but nothing to properly whip up cocktails. Pick up a cocktail maker set that includes a shaker, ice tongs, a bottle opener, a bar knife and a jigger. To complete the gift, include a few recipes for your favorite cocktails to get them started. You could also add some colorful coasters into the mix for an easy way to cheer up anyone’s home decor.
