The Welcoming Wreath

Hanging a wreath on the door seems to be the traditional way to put the final touch on outdoor Christmas decorations. This circle of greenery, above all other décor, seems to say, “Welcome to our home.” This warm welcoming message is also spoken when you send Wreath Christmas Cards.

The wreath has a long history. To Greeks and Romans it symbolized victory in battle and sports. Victors were crowned with wreaths, which they later hung over their doorways. Christians see the Eternal God, who has no beginning and no ending, represented by the circular Christmas wreath. Almost everyone relates the circle of evergreen branches to the circle of life.

Now wreaths come in every imaginable material and color, and their use is no longer limited to Christmas. Many people keep a wreath at the entry to their home all year long to welcome family and friends. Still, it is the lovely Christmas wreath with all its rich symbolism that causes us to immediately think of the welcoming warmth of hearth and home.

CardsDirect offers a grand assortment of Wreath Christmas Cards. One on my favorites is the Golden Leaves and Pinecone Season’s Greeting Card. This completely traditional card features a beautiful wreath of evergreens and pine cones. For those of you who like to be a little more unpredictable, An Array of Tropical Fish, with its fantastic wreath of fish, may be just what you are looking for. Check it out; it’s for real!
