While many dream of a snowy Christmas in the country, the reality is that most of us live and work in cities. Our Christmas memories are associated with things like community Christmas trees and parades, buildings and homes decorated with lights, and the hurried pace of last minute shopping. A simple rural holiday seems romantic, but we would miss the urban lights and sounds and people.
Christmas in the city can be a lot more than just tolerable; it can be delightful. One of our most popular Christmas carols, written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, is Silver Bells. Although you are sure to be familiar with this song, I think you’ll enjoy reading the lyrics:
City sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style.
In the air, there’s a feeling of Christmas.
Children laughing, People passing, Meeting smile after smile,
and on every street corner you’ll hear,
Silver Bells, silver bells, it’s Christmas time in the city.
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring, soon it will be Christmas day.Strings of street lights, even stop lights, blink a bright red and green,
As the shoppers rush home with their treasures.
Hear the snow crunch, see the kids bunch,
This is Santa’s big scene, and above all the bustle you’ll hear,
Silver bells, silver bells, it’s Christmas time in the city.
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring, soon it will be Christmas day.
We, at CardsDirect, wholeheartedly believe that Christmas is a special holiday wherever you spend it. City Christmas Cards express a sense of the vibrant spirit of celebration found in cities during the holiday season. Many of the cards show generic cityscapes, but there are also a large number of individual cities represented. For example, if your business headquarters are in a large cosmopolitan area such as Los Angeles or Chicago you can send holiday greetings that feature your city. These Cityscape Christmas Cards, with the four lines of personalized imprint that are always included in our prices along with your company’s logo, present a card that is uniquely your own.
