Teenage pen pals reconnect and get married

If you've ever doubted the power of letters to forge a special connection, listen to this: After writing to each other for four years in the 1990s, two long-lost pen pals reconnected on OkCupid and have officially tied the knot!

Gabriel Vaughan, now 36, and Piper Goodeve, 35, began writing to each other as teenagers in 1994. They met just once, but felt a strong connection through their many mutual interests and shared love of acting.

"It was like receiving a letter from a kindred spirit who … just knew what she wanted to do," Vaughan told The Huffington Post. "So we could talk the same language right out of the gate and that was really rare."

However, after going away to college, the two lost contact – not even a Christmas card was exchanged. But here's the crazy part: Vaughan and Goodeve essentially lived parallel lives during that time. They both studied acting in London, and when they finally reconnected on OkCupid in 2011, they realized they only lived blocks away from each other in Brooklyn.

As it turns out, Goodeve's letters had made a big impact on Vaughan – he had saved every single one. Congratulations to the happy couple!
