Time to change your clocks! Daylight Saving Time takes effect this weekend. On Sunday, March 8 at 2 a.m., time “springs” ahead an hour. You get an extra hour of sunlight in the evenings until it “falls” back on November 1 but one less hour of sleep this weekend.
Here are some interesting facts regarding this bi-annual event:
• Experts disagree on whether or not this change actual saves energy.
• Car crashes and pedestrian fatalities are reduced because daylight driving is safer.
• There is officially no “S”. It is Daylight Saving Time, not Savings Time!
• Heart attacks rise during the first week of Daylight Saving Time in the Spring and decrease in the Fall.
• Arizona and Hawaii are the only states that do not change their clocks.
If not sleep, what will you give up this weekend to accommodate the time change?
