Who’s on your holiday card list?

Have you sent out your holiday cards yet? If not, now is the time to get out your address book, gather stamps and start writing. Of course, sending festive cards to some people, such as extended family members, is a no-brainer. However, with so much to think about during the holiday season, it’s normal to forget a few people who should be on your list. That’s why I’m here to remind you who to include.

Neighbors
Don’t know your neighbors who just moved in? Or would you like to get back in touch with a former neighbor who left years ago? A holiday card is the perfect opportunity to reach out and say hi while offering a festive greeting.

Caregivers
Do you have a babysitter or caregiver of some sort who looks after your little one? If so, don’t forget to say thank you with Christmas cards.

High school and college friends
Facebook and Twitter aren’t the only ways to reconnect with friends from your past. Instead of sending them a message via social media, send a card as a much more personal way of reaching out to your old buddies. If you haven’t seen them in quite some time, write a brief note explaining what’s new in your life, and maybe include a picture of you and your family.

Your favorite local hot spot
Whether it’s a restaurant or a bar, saying thank you to your favorite establishment is a great way of expressing how much you appreciate their service. Plus, this nice gesture may get you some discounts or coupons in the future – you never know.

Co-workers
Working with the same people each day turns co-workers into fast friends. Wish them a happy holiday season with a card – just make sure it’s work appropriate.

Teacher or professor
Was there a teacher or a professor who positively impacted your life in some way? If so, express your gratitude with a holiday card. You can even write a quick note explaining how your life was changed for the better thanks to them.

Soldiers
You don’t have to personally know a soldier in order to send a Christmas card. Let service members and veterans know how much you appreciate their dedication with a holiday greeting. You never know how much a simple card can brighten someone’s day. The Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program allows you to send cards to the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans and military families.
