Every year, the holidays seem to sneak up on me. One minute I’m putting together my Halloween costume, the next I’m walking through department stores seeing displays of Christmas trees and holiday discounts. Suddenly I realize there are so many things on my to-do list I have to finish before Thanksgiving and Christmas arrive. Can you believe there are only seven weeks left until Christmas? I mean, where did that time go?
Now’s the time to pick out your holiday and Christmas cards. These should be mailed at least two weeks in advance of the holiday (even earlier for cards being sent overseas), and you’ll need time to sort through your address book, write personalized notes and so forth. Gathering the list of distant relatives, classmates, business associates and acquaintances can take anywhere between one day and one week.
When you’ve finally picked out the perfect cards, write and address them over a period of a few days. If your card list is lengthy, doing them all in one sitting can be a bit much. Feel free to ask for help from your family. You can write the note, the kids can seal the envelopes, and another person can print the return address. Put on some holiday music in the background to turn this into a fun family tradition.
