7 unconventional reasons to send a card

Most people use greeting cards during the holidays and when it’s someone’s birthday. However, this kind of stationery can be used for so many other reasons. Order yourself a variety of cards this year to show friends and family that you care. If you’re not sure what to write, here are some reasons you can place a message in the mail:

1. Congratulations
People send congratulations cards for events like graduation and engagements, but see if there’s a small reason to give one of these messages. For example, maybe your friend got a promotion at work or simply has a new pet. Either way, there’s a cause for celebration, so show your support by placing a congrats card in the mail.

2. Motivation
Do your friends and family have any goals they’re working toward? Maybe someone’s trying to lose weight or write a novel. Sending that person a little motivation message in the mail is a wonderful way to show your support as well as inspire him or her to keep going. A few messages you could write inside the card include inspirational quotes from that person’s idol, or you could simply say how proud you are of his or her efforts – the person is sure to appreciate the note.

3. Moving message
Moving into a new house means your address has changed. A creative way to inform people of your new location is with a card. To share your excitement with loved ones, slip a picture of your new home inside the envelope. This way, people will know what your place looks like when they come to visit, and they’ll have a visual to accompany your message.

4. Welcome newcomers
Whether a new neighbor has moved in next door or you’ve gained a co-worker, placing a welcome card in that person’s mailbox is an inviting gesture. Share some tips about the office or community with the newcomer to help him or her adjust to his or her surroundings. The insider information will be really beneficial, and it can help you make a connection with that person.

5. Thinking of you
People appreciate knowing you care. If you have some friends or family you haven’t seen or spoken with in a while, send a “thinking of you” card. This simple message will show that the person is still in your thoughts and that you want to keep your connection strong.

6. Thank you
Thank you cards are fairly common, but find unconventional reasons to send them. It’s always thoughtful to express your gratitude, even for the small things. Maybe someone gave you a small gift, or perhaps a friend offered to help you with a task. Either way, giving that person a heartfelt message will show that you are grateful for their help.

7. Hello
If anything, send a card to simply say hello. Nothing major has to be going on for a greeting card to be necessary. People will enjoy receiving a friendly piece of mail, and it can help you maintain contact with people you don’t see often. Find some fun stationery to say hello to those you love and keep them updated on life.
