Archive for the ‘Birthday Cards’ CategoryI have a nephew who was born on January 5. Unfortunately, his birthday is nearly overlooked each year as it comes just after the big holiday hoopla season. When he was young my sister would celebrate with a party for friends and family on June 5 just so he would get some special attention. He, of course, never knew it wasn’t the real day of his birth but that didn’t last long. My mother was born on the fourth of July. Until she was around 6 she thought all the parades and fireworks were in celebration of her birth. I doubt my grandparents did much to correct her misperception. I would love to hear from any of you out there who know of someone born on or close to a holiday and how you help them celebrate and feel special. Speaking of which, CardsDirect has an entire line of wonderful Birthday Party Invitations you just have to see. The collection includes Thank You Cards, Birthday Cards and Holiday Cards, all with envelopes.
The USO (United Service Organizations) will repurpose these cards in their effort to make sure that all 170,000 courageous men and women who are risking their lives every day for us know that they have not been forgotten while they are defending our freedoms. The USO is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the troops by providing morale, welfare and recreation-type services to our men and women in uniform and their families.
CardsDirect has gladly donated over 8,000 greeting cards during this holiday season to charitable organizations in need. Those represented include For the Troops, The RWJ University Hospital Foundation, Holiday Cards for Heroes, and now the USO.
It is CardDirect’s mission to promote social interaction and networking through the sending and sharing of greeting cards for all occasions and CardsDirect is especially pleased to be able to donate cards that can be put to good use throughout the year by worthy charities. I will build relationships. In tough times we count on those businesses and contacts we can trust. Build new relationships and insure loyalty from existing ones by staying in touch. Consider sending Birthday Cards, Anniversary Cards, Thank You Cards and Congratulations Cards throughout the year.
I will focus on my business goals. Focus on the year ahead and plan for success. Fix what you can and don’t waste time on those things that are out of your control. Work smart and refocus often but keep your sight clearly on achieving your business goals.
I will listen more. Do not manage your business in a vacuum. Listen to the suggestions of others including your customers, business associates and employees. They offer a different perspective on your business and are valuable resources for information and new ideas that can help your business thrive.
I will learn. Teach yourself a new skill. Join a group of experts in your field of business. Learn from the mistakes and successes of others.
I will be a leader. Be a leader rather than a follower. Stay competitive by being creative and a trend leader. Read the newspaper or surf the internet so that you remain ahead of the curve and can be proactive rather than reactive.
I will be receptive to change. Make changes in your business strategy, procedures and processes when necessary. Change can be unsettling but is often necessary in an unstable environment. Consider change a positive experience.
I will ask for help. The old saying, “it never hurts to ask” is true and necessary now more than ever. Ask for business referrals and send business referral thank you cards to those that help grow your business. Market your services and products and seek input when you need it. Good advice can be yours for the asking.
The suggestions above are not new but it will take some effort on your part to remember them throughout the coming year. Review your list often as it will lead to a promising and profitable 2009! For more in-depth information on the ideas above, see the article, “New Years Resolutions for a Successful Business“.

Tags: Customer Service, deliveries, Greeting Cards, Holiday Cards, shipping Dear Ms. Cards Etiquette, First Lisa, I think it is great that you are sending greeting cards and are concerned about signing them properly. There is nothing quite as nice as receiving a thoughtful greeting card that is hand signed and sent as a lovely surprise. When it comes to signing the card, the rules are not quite as formal as they once were. Conventional etiquette dictates that the man’s name goes first, then the wife and then the children, from oldest to youngest. However, it is perfectly acceptable to put the woman’s name first, especially if she is the one most closely connected to the recipient. For example, if a woman was to send a birthday card to her mother, she could sign it … Love, Mary, David, Katie and Sam.
Of course the nicest greetings are those that are individually hand signed by all who know the recipient. And, a short note added with each signature makes the recipient feel just that much more special. There is really no absolute right or wrong way to sign a greeting. It is the effort and thoughtfulness in sending it that will be noticed and appreciated. By taking the time to remember an anniversary, you are saying loyalty matters. That good deed is sure to be remembered in kind. Business Happy Birthday Cards bring unexpected delight. Send them to valued customers and business associates as a surprise gesture. Also remember employees on their special day as well. After all, they are members of your corporate family. Corporate Thank You Cards send an appreciation of thanks to clients you do business with. However, don’t forget to thank all those others who may have contributed to that big sale. Send a Thank You to your inside backup support persons as well as third party vendors. Tags: Birthday Cards, Birthday-Ideas Dear Ms. Cards Etiquette, I would like to send my son’s ex-girlfriend a birthday card. They went out for 2 years. She will be 17 and my son is 19. She is a truly sweet girl and I want to know if it’s appropriate to send her a card and if you can suggest sentiments or notes for the card. Thanks, Dee Ah, yes, Dee, Ms. Cards Etiquette remembers her first love with fondness. The breakup of such a long relationship at during adolescence can be a traumatic one, so I can understand your hesitation. I think it all depends if the breakup was a mutual one, and if your son and this girl are still on friendly terms. It also depends on how well you know this girl. If she has been a friend of the family for many years and you have always sent her a birthday card since was a small child, then that is definitely something to keep in mind as well. I think the best course of action is to talk to your son about this and see what he has to say. If there are hurt feelings by either party, then you probably want to stay out of it simply so you don’t come off as “siding” with one person or the other. If she has hurt feelings and you send her a card, then it might come off as awkward for her simply because she won’t know how to react to it. It’s a touchy thing, this. If your son is ok with you sending a birthday card to this young woman and they are on good terms, then I would keep it simple. Don’t say anything along the lines of “We miss you”, but it is perfectly fine to say something like “I’m thinking of you, and I hope you are having a great birthday.” Above all, be sincere. Good luck Dee! I hope it works out well. Tags: Birthday Cards Hi, I can understand your concern Niki. Giving birthday cards or gifts to one’s superiors is always a somewhat touchy issue. If you get along well with the person, you don’t want to seem rude by doing nothing for their birthday; at the same time, you don’t want to look like you’re buttering them up to get special favors later. Your best option would be to get a group of people who also work with your research supervisor to sign a “From All of Us” birthday card. If there is a group of people working with you on your research work, getting all of them to sign it would be perfect. If you’re working alone, under his supervision, perhaps you can connect with other graduate students who work with him on other projects? If you can get a group of people to sign a card with you, there’s nothing wrong with all of you presenting the card to your supervisor together. If you have to get a card by yourself, how to present it to your supervisor depends on a couple things: If you’re on friendly, first-name terms with each other, there shouldn’t be any problem with dropping the card off at his office in person. If you’re on more distant, professional terms, mailing the card to his office or dropping it off through his department drop-box might be best. All in all, so long as you keep the card simple and professional, and keep your inscription the same, there shouldn’t be a big issue at all. Tags: Birthday Cards |
