When your friends and family get married, you’re probably going to search around their registry to find a gift. New kitchen accessories and home furnishings are great, but they aren’t very meaningful. Give someone a present they will truly cherish throughout the coming years. The best way to do this easily and at a decent price is by using paper.
If your friends are history buffs, find some personalized stationery, and get to writing. Try to find a paper design that is gender neutral so both the bride and the groom will enjoy flipping through the notes. When you’ve picked out your stationery, go online and search past events that have occurred on the wedding date. Record the 10 most interesting events on the paper by saying something like, “On Sept. 9, 100 years ago … ” You can either leave these notes free and insert them into the registry gift you purchased, or bind them into a fun booklet.
Make a book
This paper gift idea will take you a little longer, but if you know the bride and groom really well, make them a book of their love story. This is an excellent opportunity to use any hidden calligraphy skills you may have to make the book look like a real fairytale. Be sure to include pictures and other fun decorations throughout the album to make it fun and interactive.
Frame a poem
Find an old picture frame at your local thrift shop and replace the image inside with a poem. Write the piece out yourself so you can arrange the poem or short story into an image. A couple of shape ideas include a heart or a tree. Add some other embellishments as well, like heart-shaped buttons or beads, to spice up the look a little bit.
Find a journal for the bride and groom to record happy moments they experience as a couple. Decorate the cover with their initials, or sketch an image of a place they both love. A personalized stamp is another fun gift your friends will enjoy. Give them a monogram with their initials intertwined to use on their thank you cards. They’ll be excited to test out a new paper craft tool and be able to use it for any events they throw in the future.
Everyone needs a set of coasters, so make the bride and groom ones that will remind them of their special day. A few ideas you can try for the coasters include:
- Transcribe meaningful poems.
- Use pictures of the bride and groom together.
- Cut out cities that are relevant to the couple from a map or atlas.
All you have to do for this project is use Mod Podge to adhere the paper to coaster tiles. The coasters are practical and would be a good addition to a gift of wine glasses or or other glass type.
People enjoy getting kitchen electronics and other cookware from their wedding guests, but a special handmade gift is something the couple will appreciate forever. So, when you’re deciding what to get your friends for their wedding, make sure you also come up with a fun paper craft that will always remind them of their vows.
